Insurance brokers go for growth in Yorkshire homeland

One of the UK’s largest independent insurance brokers has invested in a new centre of operations in Leeds, which brings together experts from across West Yorkshire to its office in Tingley, where it expects to deliver insurance premiums in excess of £100 million.

On the basis of recent growth trends, Henderson Insurance Brokers Limited (HIBL), the largest independent broker in West Yorkshire, expects to reach its £100m landmark by 2016.

The Group as a whole expects to break the £200m revenue barrier by the same year. Paul Judge has been appointed Managing Director of the operation based at Trueman House, Capitol Park.

Paul said: “Henderson Leeds has invested in a centre of operations which brings together all of our professionals in the area under one roof. This is an exciting time for the business as we seek to draw on our growing expertise to maximise our key strategic strengths.”

Paul’s management team in Leeds will be made up of the following:

• Nigel Harrison – Director, Leeds Corporate

• Greg Markham – Director, Leeds Commercial

• Phil Davies – Director, SME, Schemes and Personal Lines

• Neil Beck – Development Director

• Mark Hunter – Broking Director

• Rhydian Thomas – Risk Director

Steve Barrett, managing director of Henderson Insurance Brokers Limited, said: “Investing in our centre of operations at Tingley means that we can concentrate on playing to our key strengths in the market across all sectors of delivery.

“Our strategic objective of increasing the GWP insurance revenues to £100m in the next two to three years will be facilitated by the fact that our knowledge and expertise in West Yorkshire will be maximised at one centre of operations.”

The Leeds office is also the centre of Henderson Claims led by Group Claims Director Peter Wilkinson. Peter heads a team of over 30 claims staff across the group and will join Paul at his management meetings as HIBL starts to use its unique claims proposition to attract new customers.
