Baker Tilly recruits KPMG high flyer

Baker Tilly has announced the appointment of Lee Marshall as a partner in its Leeds office.

Lee, who is 37, joins the firm from KPMG in the city where, as a senior manager, he was a key player for the professional services titan. He spent 14 years working with commercial organisations in the retail, construction, healthcare, manufacturing, leisure and technology sectors, ranging from new start-up companies through to some of Yorkshire’s largest groups.

In his new role, Lee will focus on providing accounting and business advisory services to clients across Yorkshire and the North East.

The capture of the KPMG high flier is another development that gives weight to Baker Tilly’s claim to be one of the Big Four in the Yorkshire region following its rebranding of RSM Tenon under its own name. The greatly enlarged accountancy firm, which bought out its failing rival earlier in the year, now has a workforce of some 350 people.

Kevin O’Connor, Baker Tilly’s regional managing partner for Yorkshire and the North East said: “This is an exciting time for Baker Tilly in Leeds as our recent merger with RSM Tenon has given us a strong presence in the local market.

“Lee will be a great addition to the team and he brings with him a wealth of experience and local knowledge which will be of great benefit to our current and future client base.”

Baker Tilly claims that it is now the largest adviser to owner managed SMEs in the Leeds market, routinely servicing companies with turnover between £5m and £50m.
