Two new stores for Durham’s The Gates
Durham’s main city centre retail destination, The Gates has welcomed a popular high street store and a contemporary eatery to its portfolio.
CeX, the second hand goods chain, has opened its first Durham store in a 1,600 square foot space within The Gates, whilst Sunderland-born cafe Biz-R will also debut in Durham after taking a 1,020 square foot unit within the shopping centre, with both store openings creating a total of 12 new jobs.
Daniel Tabiner, The Gates’ operations manager, said: “We are thrilled to have secured two great retailers at The Gates as not only have they created new jobs in the city but they also offer our customers more shopping and leisure choice.
“It’s an exciting time to join the centre as we continue to strengthen The Gates’ reputation as Durham’s main city centre shopping destination.
“We envisage both Biz-R and CeX will be popular amongst our shoppers especially those who are looking for new technology products and those who wish to relax with great food and drink.”
Biz-R is an ultramodern cafe which serves homemade paninis, cakes, pastries and pasta dishes.
CeX has stores located across the UK and abroad which offer customers the option to buy, sell and exchange a range of technology and entertainment products including mobile phones, video games and digital electronics.
In addition to the new offering from CeX and Biz-R, the Gates has a variety of shops, banks and restaurants as well as a personal fitness centre, a baby and nursery store and two permanent vintage retailers. Visitors to The Gates Shopping Centre can also enjoy two hours free parking in either of its two car parks when they spend £10 or more in Wilkinson at the shopping centre.
