Two Barratt site managers scoop top awards for quality workmanship in Hull

Two Barratt Homes site managers for the Vogue and the Aspire Barratt Homes’ housing developments in Hull have scooped top awards for their outstanding workmanship.

Mark Thomson, site manager at the Vogue development based just off Gibraltar Way, and Ben Waines, site manager of the Aspire housing development, just a stones-throw from Vogue situated in Kingswood Parks, have been presented with Quality Awards and Seals of Excellence in this year’s North East Region Pride in the Job campaign to find the best-run building sites in the region.

The sought-after Pride in the Job 2013 Seal of Excellence award, which places Mark and Ben within the Top 100 Site Managers in the country, has been awarded to Mark and Ben for excelling in rigorous judging by the National House Building Council (NHBC). The awards celebrate site managers for the unique contribution they make to the house building process, delivering high quality homes and directing projects from start to finish. This saw both Mark and Ben achieving quality scores for their skills in managing the foundations, substructure and drainage installations, the superstructure and roof construction, delivery of the first and second fix, the internal and external finishes and the general organisation of the Vogue and Aspire developments as a whole.

Mark Thomson commented on the accolade: “Ben and I are both delighted to have been recognised by such a prestigious organisation. Both the Vogue and the Aspire developments have been designed to deliver quality homes that strengthen Hull’s thriving community. This quality standard wouldn’t have been achieved without our on-site teams who have worked hard to deliver the excellent results we see today. Both Ben and I would like to share our awards with our teams, not only does this accolade celebrate our skills, it also recognises best practice across the board and our talented co-workers. So, a big thumbs up and thank you to all my colleagues for helping to make this happen!”

Paul Newman, Managing Director of Barratt Homes Yorkshire East, said: “We have invested heavily in the Hull area for many years, building well over 5,000 homes for the local community to date, so its fantastic to see our efforts being rewarded by NHBC. Both Mark Thomson and Ben Waines are talented and driven members of the Barratt Homes team, so on behalf of all of the Yorkshire East division I would like to thank them for their efforts and congratulate them on their industry achievements.”

The NHBC carries out inspections to check all the key stages of building a home, before selecting the best-organised and best-quality developments. Barratt Homes has built a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes at Vogue and Aspire. Homes at the Vogue development are priced from £89,995 to £159,995, with prices at the Aspire development ranging from £145,995 to £177,995. Showhomes are open daily from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
