New appointment as accountancy firm expands

Knaresborough-based chartered accountants and tax consultants, Smith McBride, has expanded its team with the appointment of a new accounts manager.

Grahame Lovett, FCA, will help the firm to deliver its core services to a growing client base. Grahame has 30 years’ experience in the industry and joins Smith McBride after four years as in-house accountant at a large agricultural estate, having previously worked at a top 20 firm of accountants, both in Yorkshire and London.

The appointment of the chartered accountant will allow the practice to concentrate on acquiring new clients and to offer a more proactive service to existing clients.

Founded two years ago by chartered accountant Julie Smith and tax specialist Gavin McBride, the firm has grown quickly through word of mouth recommendations and networking throughout Yorkshire, and now has more than 100 active clients across the region.

Grahame commented: “I am looking forward to working with Smith McBride’s diverse range of clients and it is great to be joining the team at a time when the business is actively growing and expanding.”

Director Gavin added: “Julie and I both worked together before we launched the business, and I have worked alongside Grahame for five years previously, so we know each other’s experience and work ethic well. This is very important for us as we pride ourselves on forming a close and trusting relationship with our clients and we can be confident that Grahame will help us expand with that ethos in mind.”
