Newcastle security company backs National Home Security Month

A North East security firm is taking part in a UK-wide campaign this month, dedicated to keeping homes safe.

NLS Security Ltd, a family-run business based on Newcastle’s West Road, is supporting National Home Security Month (NHSM) - a nationwide initiative designed to raise awareness around home security throughout the autumn and winter seasons.

Crime statistics show that burglaries increase by up to 20 per cent when the clocks change, so the NHSM campaign, sponsored by Yale, offers advice about how people can protect themselves, their homes and their possessions in the darker evenings.

Stephen Wylde, managing director of NLS Security Ltd said: “We’re very pleased to support this campaign, as we believe it’s a great way to remind everyone of the need to make home security a priority.

“Many customers come to us as victims of break-ins, or after their cars or bikes have been stolen from outside of their homes, and it’s important to highlight the ways in which these crimes can be prevented – especially now, when the darker evenings are drawing in.

“We’re always happy for homeowners to come in and ask us for advice about how to increase security measures at home, and we have a team of dedicated locksmiths on hand who can visit homes to assess door and window locks.”

NLS Security Ltd, which is accredited by the Master Locksmith Association, has traded in the North East for 34 years and provides a 24 hour call out service in Tyne and Wear. Further specialist services include supply of new and reconditioned safes, safe installation, safe removal, safe opening, auto locksmith services, car key cutting and car key programming.

The firm employs 14 members of staff, and the premises on the West Road include key cutting services, a large warehouse facility, free parking, a waiting area, a product showroom for locks, safes and security hardware, branded vans and a 10 tonne truck which transports safes across the country.
