Record intake for leading training provider
A leading technical training provider has welcomed its largest ever intake of young people on to its vocational training programmes.
More than 350 young people from across Teesside have started a range of engineering programmes at TTE’s Middlesbrough-based training centre.
TTE’s ability to take on a record number of young people has been made possible by its growing presence in the commercial UK and international training markets.
As a charity, TTE holds a ‘not-for-profit’ status and reinvests surpluses from its commercial training operations into the development of young people on Teesside, to supplement the funding it receives from government.
Significantly, local young people also benefit from the training expertise of the TTE team, which is delivered to companies around the world such as BP and Marathon Oil.
Among the intake are a group of 50 Advanced Level Apprentices who have been sponsored by industry for the duration of their training on programmes such as the Tees Valley Production Technician apprenticeship, Laboratory Technician apprenticeship and the Chemical Technician Advanced Apprenticeship.
Vocational Study Programme trainees spend two years at TTE working towards recognised qualifications and gaining practical skills.
TTE managing director Steve Grant said: “We are very proud to be able to welcome such as large number of young people onto our training programmes.
“TTE’s growing presence in international markets is making a significant difference to the development of young people here on Teesside.
“TTE has been committed to supporting young people and industry on Teesside for more than 20 years and working with employers we have been able to provide a stream of talented apprentices to businesses.
“The support of employers is vital to ensure young people have the skills and experience required by employers that will make them an effective part of the team.”
Upon successful completion, the Vocational Study Programme can lead to trainees securing an employee-sponsored Advanced Level Apprenticeship.
Apprentices spend two years working as part of their sponsors’ workforce gaining invaluable workplace experience.
TTE, which recently received a respected Grade 2 Ofsted rating for every areas of its training provision, provides specialist training to support the oil, gas, manufacturing, process and chemical industries.
Its uniquely-equipped workshops enable trainees to gain practical experience to help prepare them for careers in these sectors.
