Girls football team scores twice with Corkills
A girls football team is impressing crowds this season after successfully securing a major sponsorship deal with Corkills Volkswagen for a second year running.
Corkills Volkswagen in Southport have confirmed that they will continue to support Birkdale United Girls under-13 football team, which plays in the West Lancashire Girls Football league.
The retailer, who has sites in Wigan and Southport, has invested £400 to support the local team. The sponsorship money has gone towards funding a brand new kit for the 16-strong squad.
Team manager, Graham MacBeth, said: “As the team plays a number of matches in the Wigan area we always try to gain support from local businesses.
“The girls are at an age where they grow out of their clothes quickly, so the need for new football kits was vital. The girls are delighted with their new kits and we couldn’t have done it without Corkills.
“They all worked exceptionally hard last year and this renewed sponsorship deal will definitely give them and my assistant coach, Ramon Tapia, the boost they deserve.”
“It’s great to have Corkills continually supporting the club and proving their sustained commitment to us for a second year running.
Jacqui Kaye, Corkills Volkswagen’s brand manager, said: “We feel it’s important to get involved in the community and support local groups.
“We are proud to be associated with the club and wish them every success this season.”
