Jobs growth at Nottingham modular building firm
Danzer Ltd, the Langley Mill-based manufacturer of modular and steel buildings, has recruited 16 new staff over the last three months to help with a huge surge in demand for its products. The team at Danzer has grown from 24 to 40 since the summer and is this week again recruiting, this time for a Computer Aided Design technician.
The swift growth surge has come from house builders such as Taylor Wimpey, Barratt and Jones Homes who use Danzer’s steel anti-vandal cabins on development sites across the country. Another significant increase has been seen in orders from Local Authorities to provide modular buildings for schools. In recent months the value of school building orders alone has totaled over £1.5m.
In addition Danzer Ltd has received an order for the largest modular building it has ever built, a 64 unit modular laboratory space for a research company in Derbyshire . The building will total 17,000 sq ft and the first phase of 16 units is almost compete and is due to be delivered to site in November.
MD Helen Scott commented: “We saw a really sharp rise in orders from house builders in the summer and contracts from Local Authorities, especially those based in the South, have risen steadily at the same time. We are winning work because not only can we provide a complete turnkey solution from design to manufacture, groundwork, fit-out and installation but we can deliver these buildings very quickly because we keep all of the manufacturing here in the UK. All of our production is done here on site and we can build and install a modular unit in just 6 weeks so of course the schools all wanted them ready for September. However, we have seen orders continue to come in right through to 2014 and we don’t currently see any evidence of a slow down.”
She continued: “We have been in Langley Mill for over 15 years now and aim to recruit as many local people for positions as possible. We’ve not had to advertise it’s mainly been word of mouth which is great.”
