Meet the Buyer event to support business in Salford
Businesses in Salford have the opportunity to benefit from a Meet the Buyer event where buyers and sellers can meet to make business deals.
Meet the Buyer matches the goods and services offered by businesses with the buying requirements of participating purchasing teams. It ensures supplier businesses meet with those companies actively seeking the services they offer, making the ‘pitching’ process more efficient.
The scheme is backed by the city council. Last year’s event saw 300 meetings held and 85 businesses in attendance, and this year looks set to be even bigger. The registration deadline has been extended until Friday, 25 October.
From the biggest buyers to the smallest sellers, a wide range of public and private sector organisations are involved. These include:
Central Manchester University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust City West Housing Trust ENER-G Greater Manchester Police Keepmoat Kingsland Wines and Spirits Kier Construction - Northern Magnesium Elektron P.P. O’Connor Pendleton Together Salford City Council Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust Salix Homes Symphony Housing University of Salford Urban Vision
Salford City Mayor Ian Stewart said: “We want local companies to benefit from local opportunities wherever possible and support the growth of the city. This event will do exactly that; and help businesses to build crucial relationships and win contracts.
“Our role in local government is to encourage and facilitate these relationships, ultimately helping to create jobs and opportunities for our city’s residents and this event is testament to that.”
P.P. O’Connor found the event so useful last year they decided to return as a 2013 buyer. Charmaine O’Connor from the firm, said: “Salford City Council is pro-active when it comes to arranging comprehensive and useful Meet the Buyer events. We at P.P. O’Connor always find them to be well organised and a genuine source of real opportunities.”
Meet the Buyer will take place on Thursday, 21 November 2013, at Salford Innovation Forum, between 9.30am and 4.00pm.
