Merseyside housing scheme application withdrawn

An application to build 274 new homes in Merseyside on greenbelt land has been withdrawn.

David Wilson Homes and Barratt Homes had originally applied to build the properties in Formby.

Sefton Council planners recommended that the bid should be rejected because the proposed site was on greenbelt land and outside Formby’s primary residential area.

The application was due to be considered by the council’s planning committee later this month, but the applicants have now withdrawn their proposals.

A council statement says:“Barrett Homes and David Wilson Homes have written to Sefton Council to withdraw the application for 274 dwellings on the site bounded by Liverpool Road, Monks Drive, Savon Hook and River Close.

The applicant’s decision means that an additional meeting of Sefton’s planning committee on Monday, October 28, has now been cancelled.“
