Health care firm completes Oldham investment programme

Mölnlycke Health Care has completed a £2.2 million investment programme at its Oldham factory in the United Kingdom.

The investment, aimed increasing the factory’s competitiveness and diversifying its production line, has taken just over 12 months to complete and will lead to a 10% increase in headcount, bringing 25 new job opportunities to Oldham.

The factory, which first opened in 1952, became part of Mölnlycke Health Care in 2005, as part of the acquisition of Medlock Medical.

Already producing tubular bandages such as Tubifast and Tubigrip and skin care products such as Epaderm cream and ointment, the investment is designed to expand the factory’s product portfolio to include wound irrigation sachets, including Unisept and Tisept, pharmaceutically-based products used to clean wounds and burns.

Both products are to be sold predominantly in the UK, as well as exported to other markets across Europe and Asia.

Nick Douglas, Mölnlycke Health Care’s Factory Manager in Oldham, said: “An investment of this magnitude is a significant commitment and shows that Oldham will play an important role in Mölnlycke Health Care’s future production portfolio.”

“We are of course pleased to be creating new job opportunities in Oldham, but as part of this programme we have also invested in training our existing staff in the use of new technologies such as steam sterilization.”
