Help to Buy makes figures add up for mortgage team manager Emily

A 33-year-old mortgage team manager has clinched a perfect financial deal of her own – after securing the home of her dreams thanks to Scotland’s new Help to Buy scheme and Persimmon Homes.

Overjoyed Emily Inglis says she is ‘absolutely amazed’ to be moving into her new three-bedroom home at Persimmon’s popular Royale Gardens development in Ferniegair.

Emily has been living in the same small one-bedroom flat for 13 years and admitted she thought her stylish new semi-detached villa would prove too expensive when she first fell in love with it.

But after talking to Persimmon West Scotland’s expert advisers she realised the Help to Buy scheme was the answer to her prayers and has now signed the paperwork to get the deal under way.

“The first time I saw the house I thought it was lovely, but a bit out of my price range,” said Emily. “But I thought it was worth talking to Persimmon anyway and they could not have been more helpful in explaining my options.

“We talked about the Help to Buy scheme, before which I was honestly thinking that I did not know if I could go that high in terms of price. Help to Buy has made it achievable.

“It means that I can now move into my dream house and have it done up exactly how I want because I won’t have to move again in the future. It is absolutely amazing.

“Although the house was on the market for £164,995, I was able to secure it for a deposit of £8,250 and mortgage of £123,746. The Government pays the balance of £32,999 as a loan which is interest-free for the life of the mortgage.

“Everybody at Persimmon has been terrific, particularly my sales adviser Maureen who has been just wonderful, and the style of the house and quality of finish is just what I was looking for. I can’t believe I can buy a house across from Chatelherault Country Park with enough room for friends and family to come and stay. I’ve always dreamed of having a house in such a beautiful location.”

Emily is looking forward to moving into her new home next year – which includes a garage and attractive garden.

Scotland’s Help to Buy scheme was launched on September 30 and allows buyers to purchase a new home worth up to £400,000 with a 75 per cent mortgage and five per cent deposit. An interest-free equity loan from the Scottish Government covers the balance.

Ingrid Gahagan, Persimmon West Scotland’s sales and marketing, said interest in Help to Buy had been exceptional since its launch.

“There is no doubt that the scheme is proving highly attractive and is helping make new homes more affordable than ever. We are delighted to have been able to help Emily find her dream home and look forward to helping her celebrate when she moves in.”

Royale Gardens is a community development of two, three and four bedroom homes in the heart of Hamilton’s sought after Ferniegair, with prices starting from £99,995*.

Currently in its third phase, demand at the development has been so high that many purchasers were happy to buy homes from plan without even viewing a showhome.

Located within walking distance from a park and ride and with excellent access to motorway networks via the M8, Royal Gardens is ideal for both commuters and families alike. The development is a stone’s throw from Chatelherault Country Park, the renowned 500-acre country park which offers woodland walks, displays and exhibitions and all year round events.
