CBI launch North East "growth clubs"
CBI North East have launched a series of ‘M-Clubs’ in the region - forums to help medium sized business to grow by drawing together business leaders.
Backed by the likes of BDO, Deloitte and GE Capital, the events will cover financial planning on December 10; breaking new markets on January 23rd 2014; and embedding innovation on February 28 2014.
John Huddleston, regional executive, CBI North East said: “The UK’s medium-sized businesses are the backbone of our economy and have huge potential to grow and create jobs across the country.
“But they need dedicated, tailored support if they are to continue growing and creating jobs in the region. That’s why we set up M-Clubs to offer advice on how to break into new markets, secure the right type of finance, plan for leadership succession, and get innovative.
“With a helping hand these firms can become our growth champions of tomorrow.”
Ilaria del Beato, CEO, GE Capital, said: “We’re delighted to be working with the CBI again to champion the UK mid-market. These businesses have a key role to play in promoting UK economic growth and we’re committed to sharing our skills and experience to help them reach their potential.
“Succession planning is essential to ensure the continuity of a business. Whilst the majority of UK mid-market businesses feel they have an adequate plan in place, almost a fifth (17%) don’t believe they do. It is therefore important to raise awareness of this issue to ensure mid-market firms implement plans to secure the future stability of their business.”
