Karma Zen

Indian take-away chooses Leeds for flagship store

Karma Zen, an Indian and Oriental food establishment will open its first store on Wade Lane at the Merrion Centre in Leeds.

Karma Zen specialises in Indian and Oriental food, and will be the only take-away in Leeds which will offer alcoholic drinks ordered to your door.

The restaurant take away is the brainchild of Kamal Miah from Leeds and his partner Shujahat Shah. Commenting on the new venture, they said: “Creating Karma Zen has been a labour of love. We’ve wanted to offer a quality take on these two culinary favourites for a long time, so it’s very exciting to see our ambition realised here at The Merrion Centre in Leeds. We will only use British sourced meat and all our meals will be freshly cooked by our in-house chefs. We chose Leeds for our first outlet because we feel it is a natural fit with the style, taste and culture of the City. We are aware that the City has an abundance of food lovers who appreciate good food of a high standard, yet the high-end take-away market remains untouched. We aim to fill this gap by serving quality food for people to eat at home.”

Susan Mendoza, centre manager at the Merrion Centre said: “Karma Zen is a very exciting and welcome addition to the Merrion Centre’s food and beverage offer. Kamal and Shah have given take-away the restaurant touch which I’m sure will prove popular with the growing number of young professionals that live in and around the city centre.”
