Barratt Southampton supports the next generation of leaders at motivational seminar
Barratt Homes in Southampton has been demonstrating its commitment to people as well as quality homes with a day-long seminar dedicated to its leaders of the future.
More than 50 of the company’s rising stars took part in the Aspire Future Generations seminar with everyone taking part under 27 years old.
“Around 25% of our staff locally are under the age of 27 and the motivational seminar was the perfect way to show our commitment to supporting our younger staff,” said managing director Ian Wallace.
“Barratt has a performance-led culture which welcomes ideas and recognises achievements and this was a great forum to develop this philosophy,” added Ian.
Those attending included apprentices, graduates, sales advisors, site based and head office staff who took part in a range of team exercises and presentations which focussed on the importance of having a career plan, whatever area of the business they are involved in.
And the delegates were also treated to a motivational talk and singalong from guest speaker Neville Wilshire from the popular BBC programme The Call Centre.
As a key employer of staff under 27, he was an ideal speaker and encouraged the singalong – similar to his motivational methods shown on the TV show.
Tracey Wardell, land buyer and organiser of the Aspire seminar said; “The day was a great success - it was both informative, fun and it demonstrated how the younger members of Barratt Homes can further their careers through the continued support of Barratt Group.’’
