New office and local business support gives charity a boost
A North East cancer charity is aiming to increase the numbers of people it helps by moving into new offices, with the help of local businesses.
Fighting All Cancers Together (FACT), which was established in October 2008, currently has five staff and 130 volunteers. However, it has thus far occupied shared office space and the move into its own offices will bring stability.
In preparation for the move, Frank’s the Flooring Store has donated carpets for throughout the office, on Team Valley Trading Estate. The carpets, to go in both office space and three event and counselling rooms, have been laid by local tradesman Mark Ward Flooring.
The office, in Enterprise House, has been secured on a three-year lease.
FACT provides help, support and social opportunities for people living with cancer, their families and friends. The charity builds partnerships with a range of public, private and third sector agencies to deliver education and awareness programmes and events.
Joanne Smith, founder of FACT, said: “Previously, we have shared office space, but this new office will allow us to do so much more under our own roof. We will be able to meet with and support people in rooms which are not only our own, but which are on the ground floor, making access much easier.
“This will allow us to grow and help more people, which is great, and we are very grateful for the support of Frank’s the Flooring Store and Mark Ward Flooring in giving us a great environment in which to continue our work.”
Mick Copeland, business development manager at Frank’s the Flooring Store, said: “The work FACT does is a fantastic support to a lot of people across the region and, as a North East firm, we felt it important to help Joanne and her team get established in their new offices. We wish them the best of luck as they move forward, helping people who are living with cancer.”
