Significant buyer interest in Whitworth Hall Hotel
The joint administrators of the Whitworth Hall Hotel in Spennymoor near Durham are confident that a sale will soon be concluded following enquiries from more than 30 potential purchasers.
Located in a country park complete with its own herd of deer, the 29 bedroom hotel has a strong reputation and has already generated considerable interest.
Joint administrator, Andrew Haslam of Begbies Traynor, commented: “This well-known hotel is a viable business and we have been confident from the start that we will be able to quickly find a buyer which is why we’re happy to operate the business as a going concern while it is marketed.
“With the hotel running as usual, we have already successfully hosted two weddings in the last two weeks and are guaranteeing that all events booked up to Christmas will run as normal; it promises to be a busy festive season. The festive programme includes a Christmas Fair with Santa and a chance to feed the reindeer on 8 December, lunch on 11 and 17 December and party nights on 13, 14 and 21 December, along with Christmas Day and Boxing Day lunches.
“We would like to reassure customers that it is very much business as usual and also to take the opportunity to thank staff for their on going support. The hotel is still taking bookings for Christmas parties and dinners and looks forward to welcoming you for your Christmas celebrations.”
The Whitworth Hall Hotel boasts two restaurants as well as conference and banqueting suites and is a popular wedding venue.
“We’re pleased to report that we’ve already received strong interest in the business from a number of serious potential purchasers and final offers are invited by Friday 8 November. We hope that a sale will then be completed swiftly to provide the best return for creditors and a more secure future for the hotel, its staff and customers.”
