Stepping forward for global Entrepreneurship Week

The world’s biggest campaign to promote entrepreneurship is celebrated later this month by members of the Middlesbrough Business Forum.

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is marking its tenth anniversary with backing from schools, universities, local authorities, businesses and enterprise support groups.

GEW 2013 – under the theme of ‘take a step forward’ - runs from Monday, November 18, to Sunday, November 24, with the focus on encouraging current and aspiring entrepreneurs to take their plans on to the next level.

Young people will also be encouraged to take a step forward to learn more about enterprise and entrepreneurship.

The annual event aims to develop an entrepreneurial culture in the UK, giving people access to business start-up information, networking, mentoring and local funding.

Events in Middlesbrough as part of GEW 2013 include Middlesbrough Business Forum’s next Breakfast Exchange from 7.30am on Thursday, November 21.

The free networking event - at Kalinka Bar & Restaurant in Exchange Place – is an opportunity for businesses to meet up on a less formal basis, chat, share, learn and do business.

The Breakfast Exchange helps them keep up to date with current issues, raise their profile in the regional business community and support the town’s on-going development.

This month’s event will also feature the popular ‘Business in the Spotlight’ feature, enabling businesses to hear first-hand from a local entrepreneur about their business experience.
