HLA announces record turnover for tenth year anniversary
A NORTH EAST business, whose client base includes Harvey Nichols, Newcastle International Airport and Caterpillar UK, is celebrating its tenth year of trading with a record turnover and the recruitment of eight new staff.
HLA Services Ltd, has ended its last financial year with its highest ever turnover of over £8 million. In the last three months it has recruited eight full time staff, increasing its total workforce to over 90 full time staff members, including five apprentices.
Specialising in facilities management, HLA Services has beaten off the competition by incorporating full mechanical and electrical services as well as a full turn-key solution offering assistance from the initial concept, design and build through to the installation and maintenance of all systems.
One of its key growth areas in recent years has been in the renewables sector offering green and energy efficient systems including biomass boilers, solar panels and energy efficient lighting.
Neil Henry, service director of HLA Services believes that these new offerings have been a significant factor in the company’s growth. He said: “Green energy has become increasingly popular over recent years and many of our clients have made the move to become more energy efficient. I believe that our wide offering of green solutions, in addition to the ability to provide all services from start to finish, has been a key factor to our success.”
Incorporated in 2003, HLA Services Ltd was originally located in Sunderland but in 2009 it moved to larger, 5,000 sq ft premises in Boldon to accommodate its increasing workforce.
In 2010, HLA Services acquired Coolrite Refrigeration Ltd, a commercial Refrigeration company formed in 1965 and based in Gateshead. This allowed HLA Services Ltd to further expand its service. In the same year the firm also opened a dedicated ductwork manufacturing and fabrication facility in Washington.
Projects director, Paul Smith commented: “We’ve had a fantastic ten years and very excited for what the future has to bring. Although we work in all areas of the UK, we are based in the North East and are very passionate about the region and creating jobs.
“Over 10% of our staff have been with us from the very start and we have a very impressive employee retention rate. All of our staff receive ongoing training to expand skillset and ensure we provide an ongoing high level of service to all customers.”
HLA Services aims to increase its workforce and turnover by a further 10% this year targeting more SMEs and large corporations across the UK.
