Firms combine to launch Lone Worker safety pack

Two North West firms are launching an innovative new product aimed at saving the lives of people who work alone.

Arcis-Altos, based in Daresbury, just outside Warrington in Cheshire and Lone Worker Solutions, from Bury in Lancashire, have created “lone worker packs” for people who work in isolation and could be at risk of injury or accident without anyone knowing.

The packs, which will be launched at the Lone Worker Safety Expo at the Olympia in London later this month, feature the Noroclear Lone Worker Hygiene Pack, which meets an individual’s personal need for hygiene and protection from infection, together with a one month full access, free trial subscription to Lone Worker Solutions which allows workers to call for help and be constantly monitored when going into potentially risky situations.

The innovative software utilises multiple communication technologies to safely monitor and communicate with lone workers via their mobiles, computers or dedicated devices. Employees log into a secure platform when entering a potentially dangerous situation and register how long they expect to be in this situation. If they fail to make contact within the given timescale, the secure platform sends out a message to the individual and if they fail to respond a predefined escalation procedure is activated. The software package options are fully customisable to fit individual requirements from sole users to large corporates with thousands of users.

Arcis:Altos launched the Noroclear product range earlier this year and strict European standard tests have proven that the products – which are free from bleaches and other dangerous chemicals – combat the norovirus germ within a minute of contact. The formulation also kill superbugs including MRSA, C Difficile, e.coli, salmonella, listeria and all influenza viruses in less than a minute.

Peter Whitehurst, CEO of Arcis:Altos Group, said: “The number of people attempting to bring corporate manslaughter cases is increasing and therefore companies are needing to do more. This is a huge step in that direction and towards helping many companies who may be at risk of criminal proceedings. It is also a step which meets Health and Safety statutory requirements and demonstrates an Employer’s duty of care to their employees.”

George Stavrinidis, Managing Director of Lone Worker Solutions, added: “We are delighted to be offering our market leading software solution within this very neat pack. Individuals will be able to activate their mobiles via a BS:8484 certified dedicated which provides them with bespoke lone worker protection.”

The packs, which are available at the show for £15.99, include surface wipes, hand wipes and hand foam to enable employees to maintain their personal hygiene needs in the absence of washing facilities, in addition to details of the free trial software for download, which would normally cost £25.00 per month/per user, together with further subscription options and services.

The Lone Worker Show, which takes place on November 26th, will be structured around lone worker safety and focus on health & safety professionals, lone workers themselves, managers, team leaders and senior members of staff who work within organisations where “lone working” takes place.
