New cultural centre ‘The Tetley’ to open in Leeds
Projex Building Solutions has become a founding partner of new centre for contemporary art and learning, The Tetley.
The Leeds-based building and cost consultancy has provided lease negotiations and construction advice through the refurbishment ahead of the venue’s opening later this month.
The Tetley is a new cultural centre for Leeds, located on the fast-developing ‘South Bank’ of the city, managed and curated by Project Space Leeds. Housed in the landmark former headquarters of the historic Tetley Brewery, The Tetley will be a new centre for contemporary art and learning with Bar & Kitchen and opens on 29th November.
Projex partner, Barry Graham, whose offices at one brewery wharf look directly over to The Tetley, says: “It is great to be involved with something as prestigious and historically significant within the region. With its close proximity to our office, we will also be able to benefit from the facilities available.”
“We expect the combination of art and brewing heritage will be of interest to our clients across the UK and hope that the association will attract them to visit the city as part of our fifth birthday celebrations in 2014.”
Projex was established in April 2009 and employees fourteen staff across three offices – in Leeds, Birmingham and Henley-in-Arden - although it is currently looking to take on more staff to service a number of new contract wins.
The company is working on some of the UK’s leading new mixed use developments, including a £100m million mixed-use scheme in the Midlands known as The Lakes, which will be one of the biggest out of town schemes to start on site in the UK in 2014.
Locally, Projex, acting as lead consultant and employers’ agent, recently complete the landlord pre-letting building works on behalf of Land Securities of three retail units within Trinity West, part of the new Trinity Shopping centre Leeds.
