One hundred new call centre jobs expected in North Tyneside

Collingwood Insurance Services expects to create one hundred new jobs over the next year at its North Shields call centre.

The specialist motoring insurance intermediary is currently experiencing rapid growth following the launch of its newly qualified motor insurance earlier this month which will complement its existing learner driver insurance.

Reinforcing its commitment to the borough, the company has taken the decision to purchase its existing premises on Earl Grey Way as well as the building next door to accommodate its future growth plans.

It has also created a new in-house training department and is planning to expand its HR department in order to manage the recruitment drive.

Elected Mayor of North Tyneside, Norma Redfearn said: “Providing jobs for local people is the council’s number one priority. I’m very pleased that our business team has been working with Collingwood Insurance and has helped with this expansion which will bring 100 much needed new jobs to the borough.”

The growth is anticipated as Collingwood launch a new product called ‘Woop’ - a young driver insurance with a Telematics box fitted to the car which allows the policyholder to drive anytime, anywhere with no curfews and no montly restrictions on how many miles they can drive.

David Thomas, finance director at Collingwood Insurance added: “Following a successful launch of our new product this is an exciting time for Collingwood as we continue to grow and we are delighted to offer new opportunities in the region.”

Sean Collier, senior manager for Business and Enterprise at North Tyneside Council, who assisted Collingwood Insurance Services with its expansion plans said: “The contact centre sector is incredibly important to North Tyneside and the wider region as a whole.

“We continue to provide assistance to Collingwood Insurance through our aftercare programme and it is great news for the industry and the North East that they have decided to expand here. The support we’ve provided will help the company to prepare for future success.”
