Manchester company launches to give landlords peace of mind
A new company has been launched in the insurance sector to help landlords reduce the costs associated with maintaining white goods in their properties.
Landlord Appliance Protection, based in Manchester and run by mother of one Emma Wilkins, provides specialist insurance which allows landlords to cover single or multiple products under a one policy.
With up to eight appliances covered per policy, landlords can protect against problems in one household or multiple properties, whether domestic or commercial premises.
Policies are backed by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), adding increased reassurance.
Emma, from Kearsley, said: “Previously, there has been a distinct lack of officially-backed insurance cover for landlords to protect white goods, and with the rental market continuing to expand due to the effects of the economy on house prices and affordable mortgage availability, we wanted to create a useful, value for money product which does that.
“The protection we offer gives peace of mind to landlords from as little as £7.50 a month, offering to repair or replace appliances in the event that they cannot be mended so they never need to buy a new appliance again.”
The cover also allows claims to be made by either the landlord or tenant, adding convenience for the policy holder. Landlord Appliance Protection liaises directly with the tenant for access, adding further ease.
Emma said: “From a landlord’s perspective, there are three important aspects to these policies; reassurance, simplicity and cost efficiency. We are confident that by providing these three things we are not only supplying a product which fills an important gap in the market, but we are doing so in a way which makes life easy for the landlords.”
