Automated welding wields multi-million pound success for Renown
A North East based oil and gas firm has benefitted from a major contract as a direct result of heavy investment, helping to secure a multi-million pound contract.
Renown Oil & Gas Ltd, based in the Tyne and Wear town of Washington, has invested over a quarter of a million pounds in its plant facilities in order to service a wider range of requirements in the oil and gas industry.
As part of the strategic investment, automated welding systems have been installed, including weld overlay cladding and automated butt-welding. Tom Moody, Engineering Manager at Renown Oil & Gas, commented:
“Renown Group (Renown Oil & Gas’ parent company) identified oil and gas as a primary industry for growth and so over the past few years has been committing investment into relevant, in-demand processes, equipment and skills.”
These processes enable Renown Oil & Gas to undertake contracts for offshore, and particularly deep-sea oil and gas components. According to Moody, the firm is now reaping the benefits,
“We now have major customers here in the North East, as well as other locations such as Scotland recognising Renown Oil & Gas’ specialist capabilities.”
As a result of contract awards, Renown Oil & Gas has also been able to create additional local jobs, something Moody describes as a “great outcome” of the increasing levels of work.
