York Science Park becomes hub for start ups

York Science Park has welcomed three new businesses to Springboard, an incubation space for early stage businesses whilst they become established.

Whitewall Services, Venture North Media and Global Power Search are companies covering business consultancy, video production and headhunting.

Kim Hodgson, Business Development Manager of York Science Park, commented: “I’m delighted to welcome three new start-ups to Springboard. They offer quite a diverse range of services and will definitely benefit from being amongst like-minded entrepreneurs who are looking to grow and develop their businesses.”

Springboard enables entrepreneurs and businesses to easily access business people, academic departments and world class researchers leading to innovative solutions and business opportunities.

Springboard was established in 2010 and has already helped many new businesses grow and flourish. Residents also benefit from direct access to the University of York’s Research and Innovation Office and Science City York, offering further support in helping new ventures to establish and grow.

Accommodation is free for the first three months and is then on a sliding scale depending on the size of office taken.

Whitewall Services is a business consultancy that helps develop businesses and facilitate growth. They help businesses improve their market penetration to attract more relevant customers, gain more profitable quality sales and customers and achieve business growth.

Mark Bates, Business Developer and Ambassador for Whitewall Services said: “Moving to Springboard allows the introduction to and closer working with businesses across the University and the city, as well as establishing mutual relationship with reciprocal professionals.”

Venture North Media is a video production company, bringing together a collaboration of commercial production talent from the North of England, ranging from 3D animation through to simple live action elements. The company aims to deliver creative content without the price tag associated with high quality production.

Venture North Media has based itself at Springboard to enable it to engage with students and new technology available at the University of York and the surrounding area, which is imperative to the fast paced, ever evolving commercial media industry. Venture North Media founder and commercial producer, Tanya Knight, moved back North from London. She said: “The range and diversity of expertise and the way of delivering creative content is not restricted by a London location. I’m delighted to be back in the North and am very excited by the opportunities we’re experiencing by being based at Springboard.”

Global Power Search Ltd. is an executive search business, working with global companies in the power generation, energy and utilities sectors. The company provides talented individuals at a senior level in commercial, technical and strategic roles in both developed and emerging countries and regions.
