Enterprise Team inspires next generation of entrepreneurs
Experts from the Enterprise Team have been sharing business acumen with teenagers across Redcar and Cleveland borough.
Business coaches visited Redcar and Cleveland College and Prior Pursglove Sixth Form College as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (Nov 18 to 22) – a national event aimed at encouraging the spirit of enterprise.
Activities are held across the UK providing advice and support to the next generation of businessmen and women.
Enterprise Team coaches visited Prior Pursglove College at Guisborough where they took business students through the maze of financial planning including managing cash flow and forecasting turnover.
They also looked at social media marketing and explored the benefits of highly targeted advertising via platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn.
Lesley Currie, business teacher, said: “It’s been a really worthwhile experience for the students, giving them an insight into what their futures might entail.
“We have some exceptionally talented future entrepreneurs at the college and we believe in taking advantage of every opportunity to enrich their studies and add to their learning.
“The workshops organised by the Enterprise Team added another dimension to the work we do in the classroom and those leading the workshops shared some of their own experiences which brings the theory to life.”
The Enterprise Team coaches also visited Redcar and Cleveland College where they talked to students about how to launch a business and covered a range of topics including marketing, merchandising, and market research.
The Enterprise Team is boosting economic growth across Redcar and Cleveland by supporting small and medium sized businesses – across the UK small businesses employ around 60pc of the workforce and contribute around half the turnover.
The Enterprise Team business coaches provide free advice and support to established companies on a range of business topics including business planning, strategic direction, raising finance, tax, payroll and record-keeping, recruitment, staff development, acquiring a business, international trade, and protecting intellectual property.
