Selby care home creates 100 jobs

North East and Yorkshire care provider, Crown Care, is set to open its 11th residential care centre creating 100 jobs.

Osborne House in Selby will comprise of 74 bedrooms with ensuite shower facilities and a specialist unit providing a comprehensive clinically-led physical and psychological recovery programme for adults with complex care needs when it opens just before Christmas.

Osborne House will have a library, IT suite and café. It will cater for all categories of care, including residential, nursing, dementia, permanent, specialist and respite

The company also has planning permission for homes in Knottingley, Wakefield and Ponteland, Northumberland, which it hopes to build to open in 2014.

Last year Ladhar Group care homes changed its name to Crown Care and is undergoing a rebranding at existing homes while continuing to build new facilities as it seeks to become a more significant player in the UK residential and nursing care sector.

Group director, Michael Ladhar said: “While many building projects have stalled due to the recession, we have continued to invest – creating homes and care centres to the highest possible standards, making the environment as comfortable as we can for our residents and guests.”

Wendy Conn, Crown Care’s managing director of healthcare, said: “The facilities at Osborne House will be fantastic. It will have a feel of home-from home and has been designed to give the people who to live here or stay with us, the comfort and care they deserve.”

An open weekend will be held at Osborne House on Union Lane, Selby for families of potential residents on October 14 and 15, with the first residents expected to move in for Christmas.

Crown Care started as Ladhar Care homes in 1989. It is part of the Ladhar Group, which also operates three homes in Northumberland for adults with learning disabilities under the brand of Flexible Support Options. Flexible Support Options is one of the leading providers in the UK for Supported Living for individuals with learning disabilities.

The Group, which has its head office in Newcastle, was founded by Baldev and his brother Amarijit, who now run it with their sons Michael and Barry.

The Ladhar Family own and operate a diverse portfolio of businesses including Flexible Support Options, a large supported living division for people with autism and learning disabilities, with locations throughout the UK.
