Job on the Tyne

A Northumberland based civil engineering company laid the foundations for an award winning scheme in the county town.

JC&C contributed by carrying out the installation of drainage and external works, including courtyards, on the 24-bed Tyne ward at Northgate Hospital in Morpeth. It was named the Procure21+ Best Health Care Project at the Building Better Health Care Awards 2013.

The project was delivered by a team of Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, Medical Architecture and Laing O’Rourke and provided locked forensic rehabilitation services exclusively for male patients over 40 years of age and with learning disabilities.

JC&C worked as a sub contractor on the scheme and Managing Director, James Riley attended the ceremony in London at which the awards were presented by former conservative MP, now television presenter, Michael Portillo.

Said James: “We are delighted to have been able to contribute to this excellent scheme and it is great to see it recognised nationally.

The company recently won a further £3 million worth of work on the Newcastle Science City development at Science Central in Newcastle, the Longbenton School project and an affordable homes scheme in Middlesbrough.
