Ward Hadaway chalks up another major health win

North East law firm, Ward Hadaway has won a place on a national framework providing a range of legal services to NHS organisations across the country.

The Top 100 UK firm, which has offices in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester, has been named on the NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) legal services framework.

The appointment follows a keenly contested competitive tender process which saw Ward Hadaway compete with legal practices across the country to secure a place on the framework.

Ward Hadaway was chosen as an approved supplier for all 10 different legal services specified by NHS SBS. These services range from advice on NHS governance, primary care services and healthcare law to advice on employment, property, contract and commercial law and projects.

The appointment means that Ward Hadaway can tender for any legal services work from NHS Trusts and other organisations that are NHS SBS clients who are located in the North East, North West, Yorkshire and Humberside, London and the South West.

The panel appointment will last for an initial two years with an option to extend for a further two years.

Jeffrey Keeble, partner and head of Healthcare at Ward Hadaway, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen to join the legal framework at NHS Shared Business Services.

“The level of competition to win a place on the new framework was intense so to have been chosen as an approved supplier for all 10 different legal services specified by NHS SBS is a terrific achievement and a reflection of the expertise, ability and dedication of our healthcare team.

“We have been providing legal support to a variety of NHS bodies for many years so we look forward to continuing and extending our working relationships with the superb people who work for the health service across the country.”

NHS Shared Business Services is the UK’s leading provider of business support services to the NHS.

Using a shared services business model, the organisation is able to achieve large economies of scale, delivering innovation and best practice, and is on target to deliver around £224m worth of savings to NHS organisations over 10 years.

Securing a place on the NHS Shared Business Services legal framework is the second major healthcare appointment which Ward Hadaway has won this year.

In June, the firm was named on the panel to provide advice on clinical liability cases to the NHS Litigation Authority and 15 other leading health bodies.

Ward Hadaway also won a place on the panel to provide legal advice on regulatory, health and disciplinary matters to the same organisations, which include the Care Quality Commission, the Health Research Authority, the NHS Commissioning Board and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.

It was one of only eight law firms across the country to be chosen for both panels.

As well as advising national organisations within the NHS, Ward Hadaway currently provides legal advice to more than 60 NHS Trusts across England, from the Scottish Borders to Cornwall.
