Chamber beats the drum for Liverpool in Oman

Andy Snell of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, has been speaking at PAIPED ‘Advantage Oman’ a trade and investment conference in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

His Highness Sayyid Faisal Al Said, invited the director of international trade to share Liverpool’s experience and approach to export and investment promotion.

Mr Snell addressed 300 delegates from across the Middle East and further afield in India, Singapore and the USA to discuss international trade and the shaping of cities’ identity on a global scale.

He said: “People may be surprised to learn of the upturn in UK exports to Oman. Liverpool Chamber members are finding success in relation to new infrastructure development in terms of products such as plant, machinery and safety wear.”

A good example is RS Clare, one of the oldest companies in Liverpool, which since 2008, has found success in exporting lubricants to one of the world’s emerging markets.

Noel Patterson CEO, RS Clare, added: “There is a synergy between our product offering and their service capabilities, we now have business with all the major operators PDO-Shell, Dolphin and BP, we are currently projecting sales of £330k in Oman by 2013 year end”

Mr Snell is looking forward to building new relationships and business opportunities in Oman and across the Middle East in the build up to and beyond International Festival for Business (IFB) 2014. “The decision announced last week to award the World Expo 2020 to United Arab Emirates in Dubai and Abu Dhabi coupled with the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar will put a huge spotlight on the region and present a range of investment and trade opportunities for North West companies. I encourage potential exporters to contact Liverpool Chamber to find out more” Mr Snell gained a lot of interest for the chamber event at IFB on 15-16 July 2014 ‘The Power of the Global Network’, where delegates will be able to meet businesses from chambers and trade associations around the world.
