Mills & Reeve gets behind charity pantomime

The Manchester office of national law firm Mills & Reeve has raised £325 for three North West children’s hospices after hosting a family pantomime and fun day.

The event was held at the Royal Northern College of Music on Sunday (1 December) and attended by 400 clients, contacts and their families. On top of the show guests were treated to a circus skills workshop, balloon modelling and invited to have their faces painted. There was also a chocolate tombola, raffle and name the bear competition.

The Christmas pantomime has been a fixture in the George Davies calendar since 2003. After the firm merged with Mills & Reeve earlier this year, it decided to keep the annual tradition and this year the tenth anniversary was marked with a production of children’s favourite Aladdin.

Nigel Shepherd, partner at the firm and who manned the ‘name the bear’ stand on the day, said: “The pantomime is a great way of raising money for our three nominated children’s hospices and having fun at the same time. Despite the rumours that Mills & Reeve partners would be playing the dames and damsels this year, we asked a professional travelling theatre company to perform, much to the delight of everyone!”

The money raised will be going to Mills & Reeve’s annually appointed charities, which this year are children’s hospices: Francis House, Derian House and Claire House. The Pantomime is part of a series of fundraising initiatives for the hospices which included a charity 5-a-side football tournament earlier in the year which raised £1,000.
