Forty for forty Foray

A band of bikers who ride regularly for charity saddled up for fun to mark their firm’s 40th anniversary.

The Express Engineering cyclists tackled a 40 mile circuit – starting and finishing at the Team Valley – taking in the C2C route to Consett and then back down the Derwent Walk to the Newcastle-Gateshead’s Millennium Bridge for refreshment and photo’s.

The ride was one of a host of staff activities arranged during 2013 to mark Express Engineering’s four decades in business. Others included the production of a calendar with photographs from the last 40 years and a specially brewed beer; days at the races, the British grand Prix and a trip to see Disney on Ice; go-karting, a five a side football competition, a golf day and a hamper raffle. A special Christmas party will be staged later this month.

Said ride organiser, Dave Fullen: “It was a fun way to mark the anniversary and of course, we’ll all have to get fitter as we get older because the next big celebration will be 50 years!”
