Win your AOP prime time at gym and lifestyle centre
A Newcastle gym and lifestyle centre has a year’s free membership up for grabs for one lucky mature member of the public in a campaign to educate the over 70s on the importance of becoming active old people.
Sound Mind and Body based in Benton is offering the membership in the form of a competition where entries have to explain why they think their nomination deserves to win.
With research indicating moderate exercise offers extensive health benefits for this age group and staying active can help improve physical, emotional and mental wellbeing, the health and wellness trainers at gym and lifestyle centre Sound Mind and Body says exercise is the best investment you can make at 70.
Trainers at the Benton based gym, suggest at any age the best exercise is a mixture of cardiovascular combined with flexibility disciplines such as yoga, and doing at least two hours and 30 minutes a week can help reduce your risk of developing major chronic diseases such as coronary heart disease, stroke and type two diabetes.
Dominic Bowser, who works at Sound Mind and Body has been a health and wellbeing trainer for over 16 years achieving astounding results for all of his clients.
Dominic said: “Myself and the other trainers and therapists at Sound Mind and Body not only advise people of all ages on training and exercise but we also evaluate everything that affects their health and fitness including medical conditions, diet and lifestyle factors.
“Exercise at a more mature age isn’t something to fear bur rather enjoy. We appreciate everyone has different levels of fitness, skills and goals and we want to work with this and tailor it individually to achieve great results.”
All ages can enter the competition on behalf of someone they know aged 70 or over and they themselves will receive a health and beauty treatment at the centres luxury therapy rooms.
Entries can be made by picking up an application form at the health centre or by tweeting Sound Mind and Body (@SoundMindBody1) explaining why you or someone you know should win.
Sound Mind and Body will also be taking its knowledge and support on the road to help inspire the region’s over 70s with a series of health and wellness events that will focus on assisting them to set realistic goals, and learn the basic exercise tips and nutrition advice, to help them on their way to becoming an AOP (that’s Active Older Person).
