Financial recruiter strikes out with startup following investment

An experienced North East financial recruitment specialist has struck out with his own business following funding from the Investment for Growth project.

Paul Card has opened a base in Newcastle Quayside’s Rotterdam House and hopes to corner the regional market for financial professionals recruitment.

The former Hays Recruitment manager says he will service clients in the region and further afield in the North West and Yorkshire.

Trading as Paul Card Recruitment he hopes to grow the business with the view to employing new staff in the next 18 months.

Paul said: “I’ve always had an interest in becoming a business owner and wanted to operate in the business arena so as to understand the challenges clients face.

“I wanted to use my expertise in the sector and decided to specialise in financial recruitment. The core market is accountancy and credit management.

“The aim is for the business to cater for a wide range of organisations from SMEs, up to larger corporates.”

A significant investment from the Investment for Growth project has allowed Paul to work with Teesside-based web developers, House of Type, to launch his new website.

Paul is a member of the Institute of Credit Management (ICM) in the region and has been instrumental in establishing the Newcastle Credit Academy - a scheme that provides high level qualifications through the Institute.
