Pixel Party raises over £200 for NE Childrens Cancer Research
Celebrate Christmas with the North East’s games development community at ’Santa’s Pixel Party’.
Gaming networks, Game Kettle, GameDevDrink and Teesside Game Developer Network, (TDGN) who support this thriving regional industry combined their talents to host this festive end of year event, appropriately dubbed, ‘Santa’s Pixel Party’.
The event was sponsored by regional developers Pitbull Studio and Coatsink, as well as Autodesk partner and software supplier bluegfx. The evening took place at the Bridge Hotel in Newcastle on the 10th December and featured food, drinks, competitions, gaming/Christmas quiz, a surprise visit from Santa, and raffle which raised over £200 for the North East’s’ Children’s Cancer Research fund.
“There’s a real community feel amongst games companies here in the North East. We wanted to celebrate that with a fun evening for these local developers; unwinding with a drink, mince pie and some great entertainment” commented Olly Bennett, organiser of the TGDN.
“This is a great way to celebrate another successful year in the games industry, and a perfect opportunity to raise money for such a worthy cause,” added Carri Cunliffe from Game Kettle.
The event quickly sold out, and with a full house and bundles of Christmas cheer, the Pixel Party is sure to return next year.
Game Kettle, GameDevDrink and TGDN would like to offer their sincere thanks for the generous raffle donations from AtomHawk Design Ltd, Secret Sauce, The Geek Show and Multiply. Additionally a special thanks to the management team at Marks and Spencer in Newcastle, with their very generous Christmas Hamper raffle donation.
