Warrington town plans open for commercial and public comment

Warrington Borough Council is opening for public consultation its Local Planning Framework, which will ultimately shape the structure of the town as, how and when it will affect residents and businesses.

The council has published a draft updated Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) document and is now inviting comments from the public and businesses.

This SCI is a key document in Warrington Borough Council’s Local Planning Framework and provides a structure that clearly sets out all timescales, guidance and procedures for planning applications and the establishment of Local Plans.

It also establishes how businesses and the public will be notified and can make representations in support of or against applications and procedures for consultation on all future planning documents.

The SCI has been amended to reflect changes following the publication of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 as well as changes introduced by the Localism Act 2011.

The council is also consulting on its Hot Food Takeaway Supplementary Planning Document. This is a new document which aims to help guide applicants through the planning process when applying for new hot food takeaway premises, improve health outcomes and the amenity of retail centres across the borough

The documents can also be accessed in all libraries within the borough, the Contact Centres on Horsemarket Street and Time Square and New Town House Planning Reception, Buttermarket Street during normal office hours.

The consultation period runs from Monday 16th December 2013 for 8 weeks until Monday 10th February 2014.

Councillor David Keane, portfolio holder Environment and Public Protection, Warrington Borough Council said: “I would urge businesses and the public to read and comment on these documents.

“The Statement of Community Involvement has relevance to everybody in the Borough and the Hot Food Takeaway Supplementary Planning Document is of importance to anyone selling hot food or thinking of setting up a business doing so”.
