Carol concert spreads Christmas cheer at homes site

A leading house builder teamed up with a local vicar to a stage a carol concert with a difference at one of its developments.

The Rev Rob Fieldson asked Persimmon Homes if he could organise the concert – which included carols, a Bible reading and mince pies - to help spread the magic of Christmas at the partly-built Cofton Fields development in Worcestershire.

Mr Fieldson, whose parish covers the thriving new development, said more than 50 local people attended the concert, held a week before Christmas Day.

“There are about 30 or so families on the development at the moment and we thought it would be a lovely way of helping to build community spirit by staging a concert at the site and inviting them all to it.

“We visit every new family when they first move in and offer them a welcome pack and information about the church and local community groups, and we thought this would be a nice addition to that.

“We had a super night which got everyone into the Christmas spirit and it was lovely to see so many of the new families there.”

Alison Reading, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said the company was delighted to support the event.

“We are building a community to last at Cofton Fields and thought this was a delightful way of helping establish a real Christmas spirit at the site.”

Cofton Fields features a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes set at the foot of the picturesque Lickey Hills in the charming village of Cofton Hackett.

The development is part of a major regeneration project which will provide a wide range of new local amenities, including a Sainsbury’s supermarket, restaurants and a hotel. The scheme will also see the opening up of the River Arrow and the creation of a new park with a play area.
