Sharron runs up the career ladder
The Nike Outlet at Royal Quays Outlet Centre, North Shields, has announced the appointment of Sharron Cairns as its Store Manager.
29-year-old Sharron, from Wallsend, has been with the company for nine years, having first joined as Footwear Supervisor. Since then, she has steadily progressed to Assistant Manager before being appointed as Manager.
Sharron, said: “My background is very much in sports retail and I was delighted as I am now, when nine years ago I was offered the chance to work for Nike. Since I was a child, I have always loved the brand and jumped at the chance to work with the company.
“I initially started within the footwear department as a supervisor where I helped to support and advise my team.
“I then became Assistant Manager which was a great stepping stone enabling me to become involved with the administrative and personnel aspects of the job. This really helped my confidence to progress.
“My previous Manager had a huge positive impact on me and encouraged and supported me, giving me the confidence to apply for the newly open position.
“I am in charge of a team of 16 staff as well as involved with wider Nike operations such as supporting new store openings and developing and mentoring new teams.”
Royal Quays Centre Manager, Judith Ramshaw, said: “It shows where hard work and determination can get you. Sharron is a very focussed, hard-working young lady and we wish her all the best in her new position.”
Royal Quays has 50 stores which employ around 300 staff, making it an important employment hub for the North Tyneside area.
