New premises paints a brighter future
An Ashington businessman is painting a brighter future for the New Year following a move into bigger premises on Woodhorn Road.
Owner of The Paint Shop, Tony Pringle has relocated his long-running family business to make way for renovation plans of the town centre by developers Arch (Corporate Holdings).
The Paint Shop was previously situated in the former Co-op building on Lintonville Terrace for 23 years before being acquired by Arch for an undisclosed amount as part of its multi-million pound redevelopment scheme for the area.
Mr Pringle said: “Although it was a big upheaval, the move could not have come at a better time for us as we were at a point where we needed more room to grow the business further and extend our offerings to customers.
“We are ideally located now on one of the main roads into the town centre so it is a lot more accessible not only to our existing trade customers but also in attracting new customers off the street who want to have a look around.
“Not only is it a positive move for us, but I am also proud to be one of the many independent businesses championing the redevelopment plans for Ashington.”
Supporting the paint specialists, ex-England cricket star Steve Harmison returned back to his home town to officially open the new shop last week.
He said: “Being born and bred here, I am very keen to support independent businesses and the redevelopment plans in the area so I was honoured to be asked to officially open the new Paint Shop.”
Established in 1992, the family-run business supplies painting products as well as Johnson Trade paint, Leyland Trade paint, and wallpaper for both trade and consumer customers. Its state-of-the-art paint mixer can supply customers with on-site mixing with over 20,000 colours to choose from.
The business recently extended its offerings to provide customers with a free local delivery service subject to a minimum spend.
The Paint Shop is open Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm.
