Leeds company shines light on prestigious renovation project
Specialist blind company Country Blinds and Awnings has completed a major project at a prestigious new visitor attraction.
The Leeds-based company was commissioned to fit out The Tetley, a new art gallery situated in the headquarters of the former Tetley Brewery in Leeds.
Country Blinds, which manufactures and installs made to measure blinds, awnings, solar and security films, played a key role in the £1.5m conversion of the art deco building.
The company was commissioned following a local Architect Specification and supplied blinds for the entire building including blackout blinds in the exhibition gallery and partial blackout blinds for light sensitive areas.
Cafeterias and restaurants in the landmark building were equipped with dim-out blinds and approximately 55 blinds were fitted on each floor.
The high specification job demanded commercial fire retardant fabrics.
Lesley Castelow, managing director at Country Blinds and Awnings, was thrilled to play a part in the renovation of one of Leeds’ most iconic buildings.
“The Tetley is a fabulous art space and it is very rewarding to be involved a project like this in our home city.
“We have manufactured and fitted hundreds of blinds throughout the building. Country Blinds and Awnings completes many large-scale projects but this one has been particularly interesting.”
The Tetley opened on Friday and hopes to attract 45,000 visitors per year.
