Roundhay’s Tropical World in £720k revamp
Phase one of Leeds tourist attraction Tropical World’s renovation will begin on the 6th January, reopening on 3rd February 2014.
The two phase plan is expected to cost nearly three quarters of a million pounds.
Once completed, these improvements will help ensure that Tropical World continues to be a venue which attracts an estimated 300,000 visitors each year.
Councillor Mark Dobson, Leeds City Council’s executive member for the environment said: “Due to important electrical and refurbishment work being undertaken at Tropical World, this will mean that unfortunately the facility has to close for a month from 6th January.
“Once these improvements are made we are looking forward to welcoming back visitors to Tropical World, in what promises to be a very exciting year as phase 2 of our £720,000 refurbishment programme commences later in 2014.
“Once again, I would like to offer on behalf of the council our thanks to the Ziff family for their extremely generous backing and support to this revamp, which has made our ambitions at Tropical World a reality.”
