Business growth events to help Blackpool firms forge ahead

A series of events designed to promote and assist economic growth is being launched by Blackpool Council.

The events, run by business support staff, will assist local companies with implementing their growth plans and help Blackpool firms to take up more of the publicly funded support available to assist growth.

These programmes include Boost Business Lancashire, which features business growth coaching and mentoring, help in accessing finance and free training from Superfast Lancashire demonstrating how to work smarter in business using ICT designed for faster broadband capability.

The first of these events is a “power hour” event, entitled “Taking Care of Business” and is being run together with Winning Pitch, providers of the growth accelerator service in the North West.

The session is designed to help businesses increase their profits and will be followed by further events throughout the year.

Cllr Fred Jackson, Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for urban regeneration, said: “We do a huge amount of work with the business community to provide support and hosting sessions like this just one of those ways in which we do so.

“This is a great opportunity for businesses to come along, meet our staff and each other and access the help that is available.”

“Power hours” are designed for senior decision makers in established businesses that want to grow and consist of a 45 minute presentation plus a 15 minute question and answer session.

There is also an opportunity to network with other business leaders before and afterwards.

The event is being held at FYCreatives, 154-158 Church St, Blackpool, FY1 3PS on January 23.

Refreshments will be available from 4.30pm with the event starting at 5pm and finishing at 6pm.
