54 Guiseley homes to be built in Yorkshire developer collaboration
Leeds developer, Evans Property Group and York house builder, Shepherd Homes have entered into a joint venture partnership to deliver 54 traditional homes in Guiseley, West Yorkshire.
The family-owned companies have teamed up to transform a redundant former industrial site on Wells Lane in Guiseley.
Planning permission has been granted to create 54 sensitively-designed, traditional homes to meet the local demand for family dwellings.
The first phase of works which will commence this month will involve the demolition of around 100,000 sq ft of derelict, 1940’s industrial buildings so that the site can be fully prepared for development. Shepherd Homes will release the first phase of homes in Spring 2014.
Alan Syers, Portfolio Director at Evans Property Group, said;“The redundant site occupies a prime location within a conservation area in the heart of Guiseley and as such is ideally suited to residential usage.
“Guiseley is one of West Yorkshire’s most popular towns for families due to the well performing local schools and its rail connectivity to the neighbouring cities.
“We are delighted to be able to meet the demand for new homes as well as regenerating an important local site.”
Mark Connors, Managing Director at Shepherd Homes, continued; “The homes have been designed to be in-keeping with the locality and reflect the natural aspects of the surrounding conservation area.
“We are experiencing strong levels of interest in similar developments within the Leeds commuter-belt such as the Castle Croft development in Scarcroft, which demonstrates the demand for properties of this nature.”
The commercial property team at Shulmans solicitors has worked with Evans Property Group for more than eight years and established this recent joint venture partnership with Shepherd Homes.
Andrew Latchmore, partner at Shulmans, said: “We were delighted to work with Evans in structuring an innovative partnering approach to this project, which has enabled both parties to bring their own particular strengths to the transaction. Hopefully it will result in the realisation of an excellent housing project.”
