Tekmar expand into former Tetley Tea warehouse
Offshore renewables firm Tekmar have moved into the former Tetley Tea distribution warehouse in Newton Aycliffee ahead of intended expansion.
The firm have acquired a lease and plan to expand their headquarters to three times its current size, aiming to create up to 50 jobs and increase turnover from £22 million to £50 million.
The property deal, secured by Bradley Hall, will see Tekmar move its headquarters on to Heighington Lane Business Park.
Neil Hart, director at Bradley Hall said: “Demand for large industrial space in the region seems to be growing and that can only be good for the North East Economy, which these large space lettings inevitable come more jobs to the Region.”
Tekmar currently employs 75 people, and during its expansion aims to acquire 102,000 sq ft of business space, ensuring an adequate environment for their expected growth.
Heighton Lane Business Park is already home to businesses such as Lidl, Filtronic, Inkland Limited, Travik Chemicals, Mold Systems and Collins Seafood Ltd, which has lead to the area being known as one of the most established industrial estates in the North East.
