Palatine boosts new business team
Manchester-based Palatine Private Equity has appointed Charlotte Ashton as business development director.
Charlotte joins Palatine from Grant Thornton Corporate Finance where she worked for three years, initially in Manchester and then later in London focusing on specialist sectors.
She worked on a wide range of transactions including Edward Billingtons acquisition of Bar Foods, the sale of Electricity Network Solutions to the French group SPIE and the sale of The Mansfield Group to South African logistics group Bidvest.
Charlotte joins the team in a national rolefocused on developing relationships with high growth, entrepreneurial businesses as well as the corporate finance community and intermediaries.
Charlotte Ashton said: “It is a great time to be joining Palatine, which closed its second fund last year and has demonstrated strong track record through the investments and exits made to date. My experience across a range of industry sectors and network of contacts complement Palatine’s existing business development initiatives.”

Nuclear Engineering Services appoints director of business development and tendering
Nuclear Engineering Services (NES), based on MEPC Birchwood Park, Warrington, is delighted to announce the appointment of Alex Moore as Director of Business Development and Tendering.
Alex joins at an exciting time as NES expands its nuclear decommissioning programmes and defence projects and with new build very much on the horizon.
Alex has a wealth of experience in the nuclear industry having held senior and director level positions in engineering and project management and brings a proven track record in business development and strategic planning.
Alex has held various technical and leadership roles in manufacturing and operations within high- technology organisations, including Motorola and more recently as Nuclear Services Director for Capula, a leading I.T. and EC&I systems integration company.

Other new appointments include Jean Isherwood as marketing and communications manager. Jean is a Chartered Marketer with nuclear industry experience in marketing and tendering and will further strengthen the business development and tendering team at NES.
Berg appoints employment specialist
Manchester-based law firm, Berg, has made a strong start to 2014 with the appointment of employment specialist, Pat Jones, as partner.
Pat, who has 20 years’ experience in employment law, joins from Freeth Cartwright where she advised clients on a wide range of legal issues including disability discrimination, unfair dismissal, breach of contract and TUPE. She is well regarded for her judicial review work for the NHS and advised the Health Authority in relation to the Harold Shipman Inquiry.
Pat said: “I have always admired the Berg culture so when the opportunity arose I had no hesitation to take it. I look forward to working with the team and helping clients to manage all of their employment law needs.”
