New training initiative launched at leading North East manufacturing company
Astley, the brand implementation specialist, is looking for confident and determined young people to join their Trainee Development Programme.
A leading name in the delivery of signage and large format print, Astley, has a blue chip client portfolio which includes Sainsbury’s, Hilton, The Co-operative, Waitrose and Cancer Research UK.
The company, based on Team Valley in Gateshead, also undertakes bespoke projects such as the iconic Great North Run sign which saw a team of twenty people work on the 41.5m wide and 9.2m high sign and was installed on the Tyne Bridge over 16 metres from road level.
In order to grow the business further, Astley are now looking for the next generation of signage professionals to join their Trainee Development Programme which offers opportunities across the whole business including metal fabrication, plastic fabrication, electrical assembly, finance, graphic design, installation and estimating.
Training and development has been instrumental in the overall business strategy of the company with four employees who each joined Astley as apprentices, serving over twenty years with the company.
The programme will include a tailored in house training plan, a competitive remuneration and structured mentoring support.
Managing director, David Redhead explains: “Our trainee development programme is essential to strengthen the business further and develop a strong team to drive future growth. We hope that by offering this fantastic opportunity we will be able to bring new ideas to our existing experienced and skilled workforce.”
Astley is looking for people who have 5 GCSE’s graded C & above or equivalent including Mathematics and English and be able to reliably travel to their head office at Team Valley, Gateshead on a daily basis.
Astley moved into their purpose built premises in 2009 where design, manufacture and installation work alongside each other in order to maintain quality and provide a seamless project management service to our clients across the 60 square feet site.
Astley was established by the current directors in 1990 with just 15 employees - four of which are still working at Astley today. The company now has four sites across the UK and employs 120 people.
Astley has Astley Signs, Astley Imaging and Astley Maintenance in their stable. More information can be found at www.astley-uk.com or on our facebook page.
