North East IT firm on cloud nine after award win

A North East IT firm is on cloud nine after beating some of the biggest names in the industry to a top national award – for the second year running.

Cramlington-based SITS Group, which provides cloud computing solutions to private and public sector clients across the UK, saw off competition from across the country to scoop the prestigious UK Small Business Partner of the Year award at a glittering industry dinner last week.

VMware, Inc - an American firm that provides cloud and virtualisation software and services – shortlisted 27 out of its 3,000 corporate UK partners to compete for the awards at the fifth annual VMware Partner Recognition Dinner held at The Mayfair Hotel, London.

As well as winning the Small Business Partner of the Year (for solutions under 1,000 seats) award, SITS Group was also shortlisted in the End User Computing Partner of the Year category.

SITS Group, at Berrymoor Court, Northumberland Business Park, was formed in 2008 and specialises in all areas of cloud computing, from virtual desktop and server consolidation to cloud management and disaster recovery solutions.

Its clients currently include port authorities, legal practices, car manufacturers and public sector organisations.

SITS Group’s commercial director Phil Cambers, said: “We achieved huge growth with VMware in 2013 and grew our VMware business by 120 per cent over 2012’s figures.

“We are delighted to win this prestigious award for the second time and will now concentrate our efforts on ensuring we achieve a hat trick.”
