21 year old Huddersfield student wins £270k investment for venture to visit US on a trade mission

21 year old Yorkshire entrepreneur Jacob Hill will be visiting South Carolina for two weeks on a UKTI funded mission to explore opportunities for his innovative all in one camping package, The Lazy Camper.

The aim of the visit is to see what the British based business can offer to America for their 2014 festival period.

Jacop will also be speaking in the Houses of Parliament the morning he gets back on the 12th February.

This follows an all party report which used the student-based business as a case study for a deeper look in to enterprise teaching in education.

Jacob’s company supplies camping equipment to thousands of festival goers and campers across the UK after beginning at Leeds Festival.

The company, whose best selling product is the £69.99 all-in-one camping kit in bag, is now a proud campsite owner for the Tour de France which is coming to Yorkshire.

The site boasts the best views on the whole of the race of the most popular stretch the Holme Valley climb.

Jacobis currently in his final year at the University of Huddersfieldstudying for a degree in Enterprise Development, (a course which is mentored by Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis). The University of Huddersfield recently won The Times Higher Award for ‘University of the Year’.

Jacob said: “I was thrilled to find the government would support me on my trade mission to America, then when I got an invite to parliament for my commitment to enterprise within education I was over the moon.

“I’m proud to be part of a university that supports entrepreneurs wanting to complete a degree, and a country which helps the little man set themselves up for international growth. We live in great times!”
