Assura Group starts work on £3.5 million healthcare centre in East Riding of Yorkshire
Healthcare property developer Assura Group has started its latest project, a £3.5 million health and social care centre in Market Weighton.
The start of building work was officially marked with a turf-cutting ceremony, attended by Jane Hawkard, chief officer of the East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group.
It is the latest project from Assura Group, who already owns approximately 30 healthcare properties in the Yorkshire region.
Assura Group continues to promote an integrated form of primary healthcare and its latest centre includes a minor surgery suite, training rooms, and specialist clinics for those suffering from conditions like asthma, COPD, and diabetes with additional space for community services and visiting consultants.
The new development will provide a modern, state of the art facility for the Market Weighton Surgery formerly at Londesborough Road, adding an onsite pharmacy and additional space for community services which will enhance the local health offering to the people of Market Weighton.
Development manager at Assura Group, Amanda Roddy said, “The Market Weighton scheme will revolutionise how healthcare is delivered and experienced in the area, as Assura Group constantly strives to support practices wishing to improve health outcomes and offer advanced care to patients. The facilities developed in partnership with project managers LSP Developments will deliver a boost to the state of primary care in the local community.”
Dr Clive Henderson, lead GP at Market Weighton Surgery added, “Now that the project is underway, we are looking forward to the benefits the community will reap from this new integrated health centre. With improved resources and access for both staff and patients, it’s great to see the project beginning to take shape.”
The contractor on site is Hobson & Porter and the surgery is designed by architecture practice, Pearce Bottomley.
